| A Menagerie of Leathers |
This paper-thin sheepskin leather is suitable for coverings and linings as well as crafting items that require a very thin and flexible leather. Available Natural color that can be dyed to suit and will match fairly closely the dyed colors on tooling leather.
Skiver is useful for miniature boots, covering the shoulders of western saddles and other similar items. It is the thinnest leather we carry on average (although some pieces of cabretta may be equally thin) and is the best choice for very fine items, or projects requiring ultra-thin leather.
Natural-color skiver features a light buff color with a matte surface.
Also available in Dark Brown and Black.
Available in 5x6" pieces.

Chamois is a particular type of leather made from sheep skins, which is buttery soft and very absorbent, hence its popular use to dry and buff automobiles. Soft and flexible, chamois is most commonly used for lining the undersides of miniature saddles, as its heavy 'nap'and buff coloration adequately represents sheepskin in miniature. And by the way, the "proper" pronunciation is "sham-WA" although many people (including our semi-redneck selves) pronounce it "sham-ee".
Available in 5x6" pieces.

LCH2 | Chamois (buff) | $2.50 |
This leather features a semi-gloss type chromed grain side with a very soft, buttery flesh side that feels like chamois. (Small wonder too. At the time we assembled the previous catalog, this item was identified as pigskin to us, but subsequently things changed and in the end, it turned out to actually be lambskin. Since we couldn't change all the catalogs easily after it was printed, we've been forced to continue to refer to this leather as "pigskin". Oh well.).
Lambskin is superb for english saddles and similar tack items as well as being a good choice for items needing more body than skiver or cabretta, but more suppleness than tooling leather or cowhide. Overall, Lambskin has a little thicker, "spongier" feel to it than cabretta or skiver, and the grain side is semi-gloss.
Available in Black and Brown colors. 5x6" pieces.

| LP2b | Pigskin, Brown | $2.50 |
This thin, 2 oz. cowhide works well for english saddles and costume tack items in larger scales. It has a smooth finish on one side (sueded on the reverse) but has more body and is a bit "firmer" than skiver, pigskin/lambskin or cabretta. White cowhide is ideal for circus costumes or specialty tack items.
Currently available in Black, Brown and White. 5x6" Pieces.
