Honestly, I could write a medium-sized book on this topic, but I'm self-editing hard on this because nobody has time to read it.
New regulations and requirements regarding customs forms have gone into effect as of Sept 1. I am unable to meet those requirements at the present time. It has been ridiculously difficult to discern the proper HTS codes (Harmonised Tariff Schedule) so far. (I have found ONE.) It would still take time to integrate the data on this end. But, once that is done, its done. I am open to still collecting the data meanwhile. So if you know what the HTS code is for resin-cast models, or 3-d printed toy items, and care to share, I'm all ears.
The secondary issue is far worse (to me) because all of this added data needs to be hand-typed into the shipping websites (PayPal Shipping/Ship Center, USPS ClickNShip). Every line item, every description, the HTS code, price, quantity, even weight. One line item per screen-load. Regular invoicing takes a mere fraction of the time.
Additionally, there can be fees, fines and so forth for getting the data wrong. So easy to do when manually typing stuff. Its all a farce when the data itself is already digital, ready and able to be output as desired, with the computer doing the work in milliseconds, and no added typos.
I have spent quite a bit of time the last few days considering the issues, and the conclusion is... except in a few specific circumstances, it is not worth it.
The amount of time required is extreme for the value of the the order in most cases. Not only do I not have time to do it, I do not at all want to. I'm past tapped out on time.
Conclusion:
International shipments will cease indefinitely (with only a few exceptions) until and unless the shipping sites get their stuff together and do better. Until they do, I am very sorry to lose most all of my foreign customers. It has always been fun and interesting to know my wares have gone to so many places around the world. Its been cool as all getout seeing how the items are used in so many interesting types of model tack... and other things.
I have not assessed exactly what the "exceptions" will be.
